Co-Design FaceMooc

The platform is free of charge and works via Facebook. Co-Design is an approach to design where non-designers actively contribute to the creative process.

Design professional that wish to develop and share expertise in co-design.

By who?
The course is led by ImaginationLancaster, Lancaster Universities design research center. They are one of the leading centers for design research in the UK. Content will be drawn from design experts and leading thinkers from across Europe.

How does it work?
FaceMooc will connect 50 designers from across Europe and beyond in a collaborative learning process. We’re looking for people to take part who are interested in design processes in which non-designers play a key role in the creative process in designing products, services or public space. This could be within either private (e.g. companies) or public sectors (e.g. local government) sectors.

What will we cover?
The course will explore the landscape, principles and methods of co-design, with the opportunity to develop your own co-design process with support from expert co-design mentors.

Drawing on examples of inspirational and effective co-design approaches and learning from shared experience, you will gain valuable insights into both the benefits and challenges of co-design.

FaceMooc will draw on original content from international co-design experts as well as the cutting edge in design research and practical case studies from around the world. This will compliment a practical component to the course, you will be co-designing as part of this course.

Facemooc offers a way to grow your understanding of co-design and how this can help your day-to-day design practice. With a modest investment in time you will connect with leading experts in the field and forma a network of up to 50 designers working in the field.

Your Active Contribution
Following the principles of co-design, taking part in FaceMooc will be a creative, supportive and collaborative learning experience, aimed at equipping and improving your co-design knowledge, skills and contacts.

Practical stuff
This is the first MOOC in co-design that uses this approach. If you’re interested in taking part you will need to:

  • Have a Facebook account,
  • Be prepared to spend 2-3 hours a week on the course
  • Commit to completing 5 modules over 5 weeks.

As a Modest Online Learning Community there is a limit of 50 places available. A deposit fee of £50 (around €60) is payable on registration, to be returned on successful completion of the course.

Course content will be in English.
