Damn It is a pilot study that will identify the problems, adaptative strategies and challenges the COVID-19 pandemic poses to communities living in Brazilian informal settlements from the perspectives of their representatives.
It aims to establish a network of Brazilian and UK researchers who are interested in understanding how participatory design methods and co-design capabilities can contribute to communities’ resilience considering short term (immediate effects/actions) and long term (strategy, policy, plan, vision for the future) aspects.
Damn It is funded by Research England, ultimate funder on Lancaster University (LU) Seed Corn grant. The pilot study is carried out in collaboration with partners in Brazil, Prof. Eduardo Romeiro Filho, Haddon Galvão Guimarães Pereira, Isadora Paloma Linhares Ribeiro (from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, UFMG, Belo Horizonte, Brazil), Prof. Rosângela Míriam L.O. Mendonça and MSc Lorena Gomes Ribeiro de Oliveira (from Escola de Design, Universidade do Estado de Minas Gerais, ED-UEMG, Belo Horizonte, Brazil).
