Working with Groups

Making it Fun, Effective and Collaborative

The PROUD team at ImaginationLancaster have designed a series of events designed to share experience and effective techniques with organisations that work with a range of ages, ablities and communities in group situations to:

> Inspire great group work
> Give people a voice
> Work with different needs and abilities
> Connect people with disparate opinions & viewpoints.

Working with groups can be challenging as well as incredibly rewarding. This could be in the context of a group that you work with day-to-day, or new people you would like to involve in your activities. It could be that to attract funding for a project you need to consult widely in a community.

ImaginationLancaster have developed a range of useful techniques to help working with groups in practical, interesting and fun ways. Through the events described here, we would like to share our techniques with you, and at the same time learn from others how you go about
inspiring lively, creative group work.

FRIDAY 16 MAY, 10:30 AM – 3.00 PM
AT THE STOREY, LANCASTER

An event to share experience, interesting approaches and challenges among the group. We will also introduce you to some creative facilitation tools and techniques we have developed. We will explore and help train you in how to use the new tools.

Depending on your specific needs, we may develop a new tool together, or offer support to improve your confidence/facilitation skills, if there is a particular group work challenge you would like help with.

At the end of the session, the resources you need to use the tools and techniques will be given away for you to use and reflect on how effectively they meet your needs. Building on this you will work with designers to modify the tools and make them as useful to you as possible.

Throughout June 2014 the PROUD team will visit you to discuss how the tools can be modified and used to good effect in your role.

A final event will be held at ImaginationLancaster in September 2014. This is intended to bring together community groups using the tools not just form Lancaster but also the Highlands of Scotland and across Europe for a big experience sharing party.

We ask that organisations commit to providing feedback on the use of the tools and techniques we will provide.

FREE EVENTS but limited to 2 people
Refreshments and catering provided.
