Last week in Eindhoven was an eye-opener as to how co-design can facilitate a new way in design thinking and innovation. I experienced this first-hand at the Grand Co-Design Café workshop, part of the PROUD project, where apart from the numerous insightful presentations given by a number of co-designers across Europe, I was given the opportunity to participate in a knowledge exchange co-design session. The presentations varied, showcasing the process, mess and success of co-design being employed across different areas and projects ranging from product and service design to community engagement. What struck me the most was how quickly and openly everyone in the group exchanged knowledge and ideas on best practices. This was helped a lot from the design tools employed to visualise ideas and encourage all group members to engage actively. I look forward to being engaged and contributing to future similar workshops!
